Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
In another tragic teen-related hit-and-run incident, a 24-year-old man, Navin Vaishnaw, lost his life after a speeding SUV, driven by a 17-year-old boy, collided with his bike in Mumbai's Goregaon area early Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 4 AM when Vaishnaw was on his regular milk delivery route. The SUV, a Mahindra Scorpio, was reportedly traveling on the wrong side of the road when it crashed into the two-wheeler.
The teenage driver attempted to flee after ramming the bike and crashing into an electric pole but sustained injuries and was caught by the police shortly after. Vaishnaw was rushed to a nearby hospital by authorities, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
A case has been registered against the 17-year-old driver and two others—Iqbal Jivani (48), the SUV owner, and his son, Mohammed Faz Iqbal Jivani (21). The police arrested the teenager and the other accused after identifying them through CCTV footage.
Blood samples from the minor were sent to a laboratory to check for alcohol levels, as officials are investigating whether the driver had been partying with friends prior to the fatal accident.
