Kolkata bus owners seek relaxation of rules for 15-year-old buses, file petition in High Court
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday in connection with alleged irregularities in appointments to the Delhi Waqf Board and the leasing of its properties. The arrest followed a raid on Khan's residence in Delhi earlier in the day.
In a video statement shared on social media platform X, Khan criticized the ED's actions, accusing the agency of insensitivity. He stated that the raid had caused distress to his mother-in-law, who recently underwent surgery for cancer. "The ED has come to arrest me on the pretext of a search. My mother-in-law is a cancer patient... she was operated on four days ago. She is at my home. I informed the ED of this..." Khan said.
Khan dismissed the allegations against him, claiming the ED had been "harassing" him for two years by filing false cases. He also accused the agency of attempting to undermine the AAP. "They are harassing our party... they want to break our party... we will not get scared," the Okhla MLA asserted.
