Kolkata bus owners seek relaxation of rules for 15-year-old buses, file petition in High Court
Bangladesh secured a historic Test series sweep against Pakistan, clinching victory by six wickets in the second Test at Rawalpindi on Tuesday. This follows their 10-wicket triumph in the first Test at the same venue, marking their first-ever Test series win in Pakistan.
The victory was anchored by solid contributions from Zakir Hasan (40), Najmul Hossain Shanto (38), and Mominul Haq (34) as Bangladesh chased down the 185-run target with more than a session to spare. Senior players Mushfiqur Rahim (22 not out) and Shakib Al Hasan (21 not out) held their nerves to guide the team home despite losing quick wickets.
Pakistan's bowlers, including Mir Hamza, Khurram Shahzad, Abrar Ahmed, and Salman Agha, each took a wicket but couldn't prevent Bangladesh's determined chase. Earlier, Bangladesh had recovered from 26-6 in the first innings, thanks to a resilient partnership between Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
Bangladesh's fast bowlers, Hasan Mahmud, Nahid Rana, and Taskin Ahmed, bowled out Pakistan for 172 in the second innings, leaving Bangladesh with a manageable target. This defeat extended Pakistan's winless streak in home Tests to 10 matches, with their last victory on home soil dating back to December 2021 against South Africa. Shan Masood, Pakistan's Test captain, has now overseen two consecutive clean sweeps, following a 3-0 loss to Australia last year.
