Roopa Ganguly arrested during protest of student's death in Bansdroni, gets bail
The central government has approached the Supreme Court, expressing concerns over the inadequate arrangements for Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel deployed at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata.
The deployment followed a Supreme Court order, issued in response to security concerns after a doctor was raped and murdered at the hospital.
According to the Centre, 92 CISF personnel, including 54 female officers, are facing severe accommodation and logistical issues due to the West Bengal government's failure to provide proper facilities.
The Centre has filed a contempt case against the state government, accusing it of non-compliance with the Supreme Court's order and of intentionally obstructing efforts to ensure the safety of doctors.
The central government emphasized the need for adequate facilities for the CISF personnel, particularly for the female officers, arguing that the West Bengal government's inaction poses a significant threat to the security and safety of the medical staff.
The petition suggests that this non-compliance reflects a broader pattern of non-cooperation with central agencies, undermining the solution-oriented approach initiated by the Supreme Court.
