Vandalism in Howrah over controversial painting during Durga Puja; 30 arrested
Indian para-athlete Sachin Sarjerao Khilari delivered an outstanding performance at the Paris Paralympics 2024, securing a silver medal in the men's shot put F46 final with a throw of 16.32m. This achievement marks the first time in 30 years that an Indian male athlete has won a Paralympic shot-put medal.
In a highly competitive event, Khilari made a remarkable comeback after an initial throw of 14.72m. His second attempt saw him achieve an impressive 16.32m, placing him just 0.02m behind Canada's Greg Stewart, who took the gold with a 16.34m throw.
Khilari's consistent performance throughout the competition included throws of 16.15m, 16.03m, and 15.95m, securing his place as the silver medalist.
This is India's 21st medal in para-athletics at the ongoing Games. Khilari competes in the F46 classification for athletes with upper limb impairments and won gold at the Asian Para Games in China last year.
