In a prestigious ceremony held today at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu will confer the National Teachers' Award 2024 in honor of Teacher's Day. This annual Event celebrated on September 5, commemorates the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a revered educator and philosopher. This year’s awards will recognize 82 exceptional teachers for their extraordinary contributions to education and their profound impact on their students' lives.
The awardees were selected through a meticulous and transparent three-stage online process conducted by the Ministry of Education. The chosen teachers represent a diverse group from 28 states, 3 Union Territories, and 6 organizations. The selection includes 34 male teachers, 16 female teachers, 2 differently-abled individuals, and 1 teacher working with children with special needs, reflecting a broad spectrum of dedication and excellence in the field of education.
Each recipient of the National Teachers' Award will receive a certificate of merit, a cash prize of Rs 50,000, and a silver medal. Additionally, they will have the unique opportunity to interact with the Prime Minister, further highlighting the significance of their achievements. This recognition not only celebrates their individual contributions but also underscores the vital role teachers play in shaping the future of the nation.
