Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
A massive landslide between Sonprayag and Gaurikund on the Kedarnath Yatra route claimed the lives of nine people, authorities confirmed on Tuesday. The landslide, triggered by heavy rains, occurred on Monday night, leading to the immediate recovery of five bodies by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
Rescue efforts, suspended overnight due to bad weather and falling boulders, resumed on Tuesday morning. Four more bodies, including three women, were pulled from the debris. The victims were identified as pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Nepal.
The Rudraprayag Police fear that more pilgrims could still be trapped under the debris as the search continues.
