Wrestler-turned-politician Babita Phogat has accused senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda of causing division in her family after her cousin, Vinesh Phogat, joined the Congress. Speaking to the press on Tuesday, the BJP leader expressed disappointment over Vinesh’s decision.
"Bhupinder Hooda succeeded in creating a rift in the Phogat family. The Congress has always worked to divide and rule, breaking families,” Babita Phogat said.
She also stated that Vinesh should have listened to her father and mentor, Mahavir Phogat, instead of taking a hasty decision to join the Congress. She further remarked that Vinesh should focus on her wrestling career and could still win an Olympic gold in 2028.
Vinesh Phogat joined Congress alongside Bajrang Punia on September 6 and is running for the Haryana Assembly election from Julana constituency.
