In a joint operation, the Indian Army's special forces and Jammu and Kashmir Police killed three terrorists in the Kathua district on Tuesday. The operation, which is still ongoing, involved the Army's 1 Para, 22 Garhwal Rifles, and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the J&K Police, sources said.
Earlier in the day, a Border Security Force (BSF) soldier was injured due to unprovoked firing by Pakistani forces in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The BSF has put its troops on high alert along the 3,323 km international border shared between India and Pakistan.
Meanwhile, voting in Jammu and Kashmir is set to begin on September 18, with elections being held in three phases.
