A Ukrainian drone strike near Moscow has claimed the life of a 46-year-old woman and damaged dozens of homes, according to Russian officials. The Russian Ministry of Defence reported that its air defenses intercepted 144 Ukrainian drones overnight across nine regions, with 20 of them shot down over the Moscow area. The debris from one of the drones damaged two high-rise apartment buildings in Ramenskoye, leading to fires on the 11th and 12th floors of the structures.
Moscow regional Governor Andrei Vorobyov confirmed that the woman was killed in the fire caused by the attack. Emergency services were dispatched to several affected areas, including locations near Zhukovo and Domodedovo, one of Moscow’s busiest airports. Flights at Zhukovsky Airport were temporarily suspended but later resumed normal operations.
In addition to the fatality, 12 people were reported injured in the strikes, with two in critical condition. Forty-three residents were evacuated to temporary shelters following the destruction of their homes in the Ramenskoye district. Russian officials continue to assess the full extent of the damage caused by the attacks.
