Vandalism in Howrah over controversial painting during Durga Puja; 30 arrested
A 28-year-old man, Amit Kumar Yadav, died by suicide on Wednesday evening in Patna, after jumping into the Ganga river while livestreaming the act on social media. In the live video, Yadav accused his father, Vaidyanath Yadav, and his younger brother, Aniket, of assaulting him over a dispute regarding his share of the family property. He also criticized his girlfriend, attributing his mental distress to her actions.
"My father Vaidyanath Yadav and younger brother Aniket are responsible for my death," Yadav said in the livestream, showing his swollen face. He demanded severe punishment for his family and girlfriend before he jumped into the river. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) recovered his body after a 10-hour search on Thursday.
Police stated that Yadav appeared to be mentally unsound. His family reported that his depression worsened after the girl he loved married someone else, contributing to his distress.
