On the second day of the opening Test, Bangladesh were bowled out for a mere 149 in their first innings, trailing India by a substantial 227 runs. India had posted a first-innings total of 376 in 91.2 overs earlier in the day, leaving Bangladesh struggling to mount a challenge.
India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 4/50. Akash Deep (2/19), Mohammed Siraj (2/30), and Ravindra Jadeja (2/19) contributed with two wickets each to help skittle out Bangladesh in just 47.1 overs. Shakib Al Hasan top-scored for Bangladesh with 32, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz remained unbeaten on 27.
Earlier in the day, India resumed their innings on 339/6, with Ravichandran Ashwin continuing his impressive knock. Ashwin added 11 more runs to his overnight score before falling for 113, while Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed for 86. Bangladesh's Hasan Mahmud claimed a five-wicket haul, finishing with 5/83, while Taskin Ahmed took 3/55.
