Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
23-year-old Akshat Garg lost his life in a devastating collision while riding his motorcycle on Golf Course Road in DLF Phase II, Gurugram. The accident occurred around 5:45 AM when Garg was struck by a black SUV traveling the wrong way as he attempted to make a turn. His friend, riding behind him, captured a 17-second video of the crash, showing the moments leading up to the collision.
Despite wearing protective gear, including a helmet and gloves, Garg was thrown over the vehicle upon impact. Emergency services arrived within five minutes, but he was declared dead upon reaching the hospital. Reports indicate that Garg and his friend were on their way to meet others at Ambience Mall after crossing the Sikanderpur-Cyberhub flyover.
A senior police officer stated that neither Garg nor the SUV driver, Kuldeep Kumar Thakur, 25, had the chance to avoid the accident due to the impact's intensity. Thakur, a resident of Ghitorni and co-founder of a PR firm, was initially detained but later released on bail.
The FIR against Kuldeep Kumar Thakur includes several sections under the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act. The charges cite a rash and negligent act that does not amount to culpable homicide, as well as violations related to dangerous driving and failure to control a vehicle. Specifically, sections 281, 106(1), 324(4), and 166 address reckless driving, endangerment, and procedural violations.
