Uday Bhanu Chib has been appointed as the new president of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC), succeeding Srinivas BV. The announcement came shortly after Chib's recent meeting with senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge made the official appointment, acknowledging the contributions of the outgoing president, Srinivas BV.
Chib, who previously served as the general secretary of the IYC and as president of the Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress, steps into this role amid the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. His leadership experience in the region is seen as a crucial asset for the Congress party as they contest these important elections.
In a post, Uday Bhanu Chib shared a photo of his meeting with Rahul Gandhi, praising his dedication to social justice. Chib has been actively involved in Congress activities, recently participating in a roadshow for National Congress candidate Ajay Kumar Sadhotra in Jammu North.
The Congress party is currently contesting the J&K assembly elections in a pre-poll alliance with the National Conference (NC). While NC will contest 52 seats and Congress 31, both parties will face a friendly contest in five constituencies where they couldn’t reach an agreement.
