During a rally in Bahadurgarh, Haryana, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of creating a financial structure that benefits only a select few industrialists. He pointed to Mukesh Ambani’s son Anant Ambani’s extravagant wedding, claiming that the "thousands of crores" spent on the event came from public funds. Gandhi argued that while wealthy families enjoy lavish celebrations, common citizens, especially farmers, are forced to take loans for their children's weddings.
He further criticized the Modi government’s Agniveer scheme, stating that it was designed to deprive Indian soldiers of crucial benefits like pensions, canteen access, and martyr status. According to Gandhi, the privatization of defense sectors under this government has funneled public defense budgets into the hands of private companies like Adani Defence.
At a separate rally in Sonipat, Rahul Gandhi reiterated Congress’s commitment to scrapping the Agniveer scheme if voted into power. He also promised that Congress would provide a Rs.2000 monthly allowance to women in Haryana, aimed at offering financial support to households.
