In a positive development ahead of Durga Puja, the state government has announced that students of Class XI-XII will receive Rs 10,000 for purchasing tablets, with the amount to be deposited starting from Friday. The initiative called the 'Dream of Youth' project, will benefit approximately 16 lakh students across government and government-aided schools, including madrasas and minority institutions.
The total fund allocation for this scheme is Rs 133.57 crore, with each eligible student receiving Rs 10,000 in their bank accounts. Although the distribution of the tab money was initially scheduled for September, it was delayed due to the flood situation in the state.
The government has now confirmed that the funds will be transferred before the Durga Puja holidays, allowing students to make use of them during the festive season.
This initiative is part of the state's ongoing efforts to support education by providing digital resources to students, ensuring they are equipped with the tools they need for their academic progress.
