IndiGo, India's largest airline by domestic market share, faced a significant system outage on Saturday, leading to long waiting times and flight delays at airports nationwide. The outage, which started around 12:30 PM, affected the airline’s website, booking system, and airport check-in processes. This disruption left passengers stranded at various airports, with many unable to book flights or check in, causing widespread frustration.
IndiGo issued an official statement acknowledging the issue, saying, “We are currently experiencing a temporary system slowdown across our network, affecting our website and booking system. As a result, customers may face increased wait times, including slower check-ins and longer queues at the airport.” The airline’s airport staff remained on the ground assisting passengers, but long lines persisted. IndiGo apologized for the inconvenience and reassured customers that their team was working to restore normal operations as quickly as possible.
The system briefly resumed operations at around 1:05 PM, but the outage continued to affect services intermittently. Many passengers took to social media to express their frustrations, with one user on X (formerly Twitter) saying, “@IndiGo6E your services are down. I’m not able to book any Indigo flight on any platform.” Another passenger, Rohit Gandhi, tweeted, “Indigo airlines computer systems have crashed, and they have a massive backup at airports. I’m in Kolkata taking off. Is anyplace else in India having a similar issue?”
Visuals shared online showed large crowds at major airports like Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata, with passengers stuck in check-in queues for extended periods. The airline’s website and app were also affected, leaving many customers unable to book flights or manage existing reservations. Despite efforts by ground staff, the situation caused delays across multiple flights and increased frustration among travelers. IndiGo has yet to provide a clear timeline for when full services will be restored, leaving passengers uncertain about their upcoming travel plans.
