Congress questions Haryana election results over EVM irregularities in 7 key constituencies

Congress leaders, including Pawan Khera and Ashok Gehlot, met with Election Commissioners at Nirvachan Sadan in New Delhi. During this meeting, they submitted a memorandum alleging "glaring discrepancies" in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) across seven key constituencies in Haryana. The Congress claimed that these irregularities led to significant vote discrepancies, impacting their candidates and polling agents.

The party specifically pointed to Narnaul, where BJP’s Om Prakash Yadav won against Congress’s Rao Narender Singh by 17,171 votes. Historically, Narnaul has favored the BJP, with Yadav maintaining a strong hold since 2014. The Congress last secured a win in this constituency in 1991, showcasing a decline in its influence.

In addition to Narnaul, the Congress highlighted other constituencies, including Karnal, where BJP's Jagmohan Anand defeated Congress’s Sumita Virk by 33,652 votes. Karnal has been a BJP stronghold, previously represented by former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Rewari, another critical seat, saw BJP’s Laxman Singh Yadav defeating Congress’s Chiranjeev Rao by 28,769 votes, with Aam Aadmi Party's candidate affecting Congress's prospects by securing 18,427 votes.

The Congress also mentioned Hodal, where Udai Bhan lost to BJP’s Harinder Singh by 2,595 votes, and Kalka, where BJP’s Shakti Rani Sharma triumphed over Congress’s Pradeep Chaudhary. These results raised concerns about the integrity of the electoral process in Haryana. With the memorandum, the Congress is urging the Election Commission to investigate these claims to ensure the fairness and transparency of the electoral process in Haryana.
