Baba Siddique had ties with Dawood Ibrahim?

Yogesh alias Raju, a shooter linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has alleged that the late NCP leader Baba Siddique had ties with Dawood Ibrahim, one of India’s most-wanted criminals and the mastermind behind the 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts. Raju, arrested after an encounter in Uttar Pradesh, claimed Siddique’s criminal connections led to his murder. Despite this, Raju denied any role in the killing, which occurred on October 12 in Mumbai.

Raju is also accused in the murder of gym owner Nadir Shah in Delhi’s Greater Kailash last month. He was apprehended after an exchange of gunfire with the Delhi Police Special Cell and Mathura Police, sustaining a leg injury. Authorities recovered a .32-bore pistol, ammunition, and a motorcycle. Speaking from the hospital, Raju stated that Siddique’s ties with Dawood made him a target, while also claiming he was pressured into crime by police and gradually joined the Lawrence Bishnoi-Hashim Baba gangs.

Baba Siddique, aged 66, was a former Maharashtra minister and a key figure in the NCP. He was fatally shot outside his son’s office in Mumbai’s Bandra area. Raju denied involvement in the murder but admitted being part of the broader criminal network.

The Mumbai Police investigation has led to nine arrests, including individuals who provided firearms and logistical support to the shooters. Two key suspects, Shubham Lonkar and mastermind Mohammed Zeeshan Akhtar, remain absconding, with Akhtar having alleged connections to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The police are continuing their investigation to capture the remaining culprits.
