Ferry ghat owner suspected of poisoning 10 monkeys with pesticide-laced bananas
A young woman reported harassment while traveling on a local train from Dhakuria to Sealdah. The trouble began when three men boarded the train from Park Circus and attempted to take unauthorized photos of the woman while she was leaning on her boyfriend's shoulder. The men threatened to make these photos viral on social media.
When the train arrived at Sealdah Station, the young woman, feeling threatened, confronted one of the men and slapped him. This action provoked an immediate and violent response from the three assailants. As the couple exited the train, the men followed them onto the platform, where they brutally attacked the woman's boyfriend, leaving him injured. Despite the presence of many passengers at the busy station, no one intervened, and the couple found themselves isolated and vulnerable.
After the incident, the woman filed a written complaint at the nearby GRP (Government Railway Police) outpost, detailing the harassment and assault. The incident reportedly took place between 9:30 PM and 9:45 PM on platform 21. Following her complaint, the GRP detained the three suspects, who allegedly continued to threaten the couple even in front of police officers, claiming they would face repercussions for their actions.
The GRP confirmed the arrests shortly after the complaint was lodged. Authorities are currently reviewing surveillance footage from the station to gather more evidence and identify any additional witnesses.
