Kunal Ghosh threatens FIR against Jr doctors ahead of meeting with CM Mamata!

Tensions are rising in West Bengal as Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghosh has threatened to file FIRs against junior doctors Aniket Mahato and Debashis Halder if their meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee does not succeed. The meeting is set for Monday at 5 PM at Nabanna, where the junior doctors plan to discuss their ongoing protests and demands for improved healthcare conditions in the state.

Ghosh's warning comes amid growing unrest among junior doctors, who are protesting for justice following the brutal rape and murder of their colleague at R. G. Kar Medical College and Hospital. Their movement has gained significant traction, fueled by anger over safety concerns and demands for systemic change within the healthcare system. The WBJDF (West Bengal Junior Doctors' Front) has been vocal about their demands, which include the resignation of the Health Secretary and better security measures for medical staff.

In a post on social media, Ghosh emphasized that access to medical care is a fundamental right and that any deliberate attempt to obstruct it could lead to legal consequences. He stated, “If the meeting fails due to stubbornness, resulting in a health strike that harms any patient, FIRs should be filed against Dr. Mahato and Dr. Halder.” He identified them as the main instigators of the protests, urging the public to file complaints against them along with related medical institutions if patients are affected.

Ghosh has also expressed concern about the influence of opposition forces, specifically the Left and ultra-Left groups, suggesting that they may be inciting unrest among the junior doctors. He reiterated the Chief Minister's consistent efforts to resolve the situation, encouraging the doctors to withdraw their hunger strike and engage in constructive dialogue instead.

Despite Ghosh's statements, the WBJDF has chosen not to engage with his comments. A representative stated, “We will not react to Kunal Ghosh’s remarks. Our movement has received worldwide support, and responding to him would only distract us from our goals.” The organization remains committed to advocating for their demands and ensuring that patient care is prioritized.
