Drunk youths crash car in New Town, attack female cop at police station
17 junior doctors from the ongoing hunger strike reached Nabanna on Monday afternoon for a critical meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Despite the government’s request for them to end their hunger strike, the doctors have chosen to continue their protest, standing firm on their ten-point demands. The meeting with the Chief Minister is scheduled for 5 PM.
Initially, the state government had called for 10 doctors to attend the meeting, but the group decided to send 17 representatives, who left the Dharmatala protest stage earlier in the day. These doctors, representing various state-run medical institutions, are hopeful that the meeting will lead to fruitful discussions that address their grievances.
Among those present at the meeting are the presidents of SSKM and RG Kar Medical Colleges, both key figures in the junior doctors' movement. The group also carried with them a complaint file against the Health Secretary, highlighting various administrative failures and issues within the state's healthcare system.
