Two coaches and a parcel van of the CSMT Shalimar Express derailed near Kalamna station in Nagpur, Maharashtra, on Tuesday. Fortunately, no passengers were injured in the derailment, ensuring the safety of those aboard. The accident has caused disruption in train services on the route.
Dilip Singh, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr DCM) of the South East Central Railway, provided details regarding the incident. He confirmed that train number 18029, the CSMT Shalimar Express, experienced the derailment involving the S2 coach and a parcel van. The quick response from the railway administration has been commendable, focusing on passenger safety and assistance.
In the aftermath of the derailment, the railway administration has taken immediate steps to ensure that passengers are transported to their intended destinations. “There is no information about any loss of life in this incident,” Singh stated, reassuring the public about the situation's severity.
To further assist passengers affected by the derailment, a helpline has been established, and basic facilities are being provided. This includes provisions for food, water, and other necessities while passengers await alternative travel arrangements.
