No lawyer for arrested ISKCON priest Chinmoy Das's bail hearing in Bangladesh
Temple priest Baba Balaknath has been accused of drugging and raping a woman multiple times by offering her drug-laced "prasad." The woman, introduced to the priest by an acquaintance named Rajesh, visited the Kshetrapal Temple in Khedi Datunjala, Haryana, where Baba Balaknath allegedly promised to resolve her family problems using Tantra Vidya, a mystical spiritual practice.
According to the FIR, during one of their meetings, the priest gave the woman peda (a sweet), which she later claimed was laced with drugs. After consuming it, she lost consciousness. The woman reported that while she was unconscious, Baba Balaknath raped her multiple times. His driver, Yogesh, reportedly filmed the assault on video, which later became a tool for blackmail.
The victim claimed that this was not a one-time occurrence. She stated that the priest gave her drug-laced "prasad" several times, leading to repeated sexual assaults. After the attacks, she was subjected to continuous harassment by Baba Balaknath and his associates. The accused threatened to release the video of the assault online if she refused to visit or comply with their demands.
Fearing for her and her family’s safety, the victim stayed silent for several months. She reportedly felt trapped, unable to seek help due to the blackmail and threats. The trauma of the repeated assaults and the fear of public humiliation kept her from coming forward until she finally filed a complaint with the police.
The case gained widespread attention after the video of the assault went viral on social media. Public outrage over the footage increased pressure on local authorities to act swiftly. The police at Udyog Nagar police station have registered a case and begun questioning Baba Balaknath, Yogesh, and other associates involved in the incident.
Currently, no arrests have been made, but the police are actively investigating the victim’s claims. They are verifying her allegations of drugging, rape, and blackmail, as well as the threats made against her. The viral video has become a key piece of evidence in the case, with the police working to gather additional proof to support the victim’s testimony. Baba Balaknath and his associates have not publicly responded to the accusations
