Speeding bus mows down pedestrian at MG Road more, driver flee
Flight operations at Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar, resumed at 8 AM today after being suspended due to Cyclone Dana, which made landfall between Dhamra and Bhitarkanika in Odisha during the early hours of October 25. The airport had halted all flights at 5 PM on October 24 as a precautionary measure, given the severe weather conditions brought on by the cyclone.
An official from the airport, Prasanna Pradhan, confirmed that the situation in Bhubaneswar improved quicker than expected, allowing the airport to resume operations earlier than the previously planned 9 AM reopening. This decision was made after assessing the weather and safety conditions in the region, which had normalized by the morning.
Meanwhile, flight operations also resumed at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata at 8 AM today. Kolkata airport had similarly suspended operations in response to Cyclone Dana as it impacted the coastal areas of West Bengal with strong winds and heavy rainfall. With the weakening of the cyclone, air travel in the region has returned to normal.
Cyclone Dana, which made landfall as a severe cyclonic storm, caused significant disruptions in Odisha and West Bengal, including flight suspensions, road blockages, and power outages. However, authorities have acted swiftly to restore normalcy as the storm weakened over the day.
