Rajkot hotels on high alert as 10 properties receive bomb threat emails prompting extensive security sweeps

Rajkot is facing heightened security concerns after 10 prominent hotels received alarming bomb threat emails on Monday afternoon. The targeted establishments include the five-star Imperial Palace, Sayaji Hotel, Seasons Hotel, and Hotel Grand Regency, all known for hosting guests during major events, including international cricket matches. The emails, sent at around 12:45 PM, contained specific threats indicating that explosives had been placed within the hotels and would detonate in a matter of hours, prompting immediate evacuation for safety.

In response to the threats, local authorities mobilized quickly to investigate the situation. A coordinated effort involving the Special Operations Group (SOG), Local Crime Branch (LCB), Bomb Disposal Squad, and dog units was initiated. Security teams began comprehensive searches at the affected hotels, including Bhabha Hotel and Jyoti Hotel, examining common areas, guest rooms, and storage spaces for any signs of explosives or suspicious packages. The rapid response aimed to reassure guests and staff while ensuring public safety.

A-Division Police Inspector R.G. Barot confirmed that the police were alerted to the situation by the Crime Branch, emphasizing the seriousness of the threats. "We have implemented extensive security measures and are conducting thorough checks at all relevant locations," Barot stated. The police are also collaborating with the hotel management to facilitate the safe evacuation of guests where necessary, while maintaining communication with local and national security agencies.

The emails, signed by an individual identifying himself as "Ken Din," explicitly warned that many innocent lives would be lost if hotels were not evacuated promptly. This has led to widespread concern among hotel staff and guests, with some individuals expressing anxiety about their safety. The management of the hotels has been proactive, issuing advisories to guests and implementing additional security protocols to ensure a safe environment.

As of the latest updates, no suspicious items have been found during the extensive searches, and police continue to investigate the source of the emails. Authorities are utilizing advanced technological methods to trace the sender's identity and origin. The situation remains under close observation, with ongoing communication between police, hotel management, and guests to ensure that all necessary precautions are taken.
