Three terrorists gunned down after attack on Indian Army vehicle

An Indian Army vehicle was attacked by terrorists in the Akhnoor region of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday morning. At approximately 7 am, three militants fired multiple rounds at the army vehicle in the Battal area. In a swift response, security forces sealed off the area and launched a manhunt for the attackers. During the encounter, three terrorists were killed, but army officials confirmed that there were no injuries or casualties among the personnel involved in the attack.

This incident comes on the heels of a concerning rise in violence in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly targeting security forces. Just last week, an army convoy was ambushed in Baramulla, leading to the deaths of two soldiers, Rifleman Kaisar Ahmad Shah from Anantnag and Rifleman Jeevan Singh from Sirsa, Haryana, along with two civilian porters, Zahoor Ahmad Mir and Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary. The ambush occurred when the convoy, consisting of personnel from a Rashtriya Rifles unit, was en route to the Nagin post in the Afrawat range. The attack took place near Botapathri, approximately 6 km from Gulmarg, highlighting the persistent threat to military operations in the region.

Additionally, before the attack in Akhnoor, terrorists targeted a tunnel construction site in Ganderbal's Gagangir area, resulting in the deaths of a local doctor and six non-local laborers. These incidents have raised alarms regarding the safety of civilians and security personnel in Jammu and Kashmir, where terrorist activities have seen a resurgence in recent months. A laborer from Uttar Pradesh was also shot at in Pulwama's Tral, further escalating concerns over civilian safety in the region.

In response to the escalating violence, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha condemned the attacks and vowed to avenge the loss of innocent lives. He stated that all resources would be utilized to dismantle the terror networks operating in the region. Sinha emphasized that "every drop of innocent blood spilled in the valley will be avenged" and called for heightened vigilance among security forces to protect both military personnel and civilians from future attacks.

Following these events, security measures across north Kashmir have been reinforced, with increased patrols and night operations conducted in areas where army convoys frequently travel. The Indian Army remains on high alert, employing drones and human intelligence to locate and apprehend any remaining terrorists linked to the recent attacks. As investigations continue, officials are focused on ensuring the safety of all residents in Jammu and Kashmir while addressing the persistent threat of terrorism in the region.
