A 12th-grade student, Angana Halder, was found dead on railway tracks near Jiudhara Railway Gate in Kalna on Friday evening. The body was discovered shortly after a disturbing phone call made by Angana to her mother. In the call, Angana reportedly said, "Mom, they won’t let me live," before abruptly ending the conversation. The GRP (Government Railway Police) responded to the scene and sent the body for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

Angana had attended her usual English tuition session in Kalna, which she regularly attended with her mother. After the session, which ended earlier than usual on Friday, she made the phone call to her mother around 5:30 PM. After speaking with her mother, Angana left the tuition center and walked towards the railway tracks. Local residents who found her body on the tracks immediately alerted the authorities. Police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation into the incident. The body was sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain whether it was a suicide or if other factors were involved.

The GRP’s initial investigation suggests the possibility of suicide, but the circumstances surrounding the phone call have prompted further inquiries. Police are trying to confirm if Angana intentionally went to the tracks or if there was any foul play involved. A family member of the deceased confirmed that Angana’s mother was unable to ask any follow-up questions after the abrupt call. Local authorities are also investigating whether the incident could have been an accident or caused by external factors.

Angana's family, particularly her mother, has expressed doubts about the suicide theory and called for a detailed investigation into the incident. Later that evening, Angana’s relatives gathered outside the Kalna GRP office, urging the authorities to explore all possible angles. Kalna MLA Debaprasad Bag visited the scene and assured the public that the police would conduct a thorough investigation. The GRP has not ruled out any possibilities yet and continues to collect evidence from the area, including surveillance footage from nearby locations, to understand what led to Angana’s tragic death.
