More than 3.5 crore pilgrims take holy bath during Amrit Snan at Mahakumbh
Prithviraj Naskar, a 33-year-old BJP leader, was found brutally murdered in South 24 Parganas' Magrahat late on Friday night. His mutilated body was discovered inside the BJP party office at Dweep More, Usthi, after he had been reported missing for five days. Naskar’s family had filed a missing person’s report with the Usthi police on November 7th, detailing their concern after he failed to return home from a scheduled meeting. Police began an investigation immediately, and the body was recovered from the office on November 10th, marking a tragic turn in the case.
A woman, who had been in a six-year relationship with Naskar, was arrested in connection with his murder. According to police sources, the woman claimed that Naskar had invited her to the party office on the night of the incident, where he had been drinking. During their meeting, she alleged that he became forceful and attempted to sexually assault her. She further stated that she tried to resist his advances, but Naskar persisted. The woman then reportedly grabbed a blade from the nearby area and used it to severely injure his genitals in an effort to escape. After the attack, she fled the office by climbing over a broken collapsible gate and went into hiding.
The woman admitted to the stabbing during police interrogation. Police officials confirmed that her statement matched the evidence found at the scene. They also revealed that Naskar had been involved in multiple relationships with other women, which has raised further questions about the circumstances leading to his death. However, police have not disclosed the identities of these other women at this time.
Authorities continue to investigate the case, with the police focusing on the details of Naskar’s personal relationships and the events leading up to the fatal confrontation. The Superintendent of Police confirmed that the woman’s confession had been corroborated by evidence collected from the scene, though they emphasized that the investigation was still ongoing. Further questioning of the woman and additional evidence may reveal more information about the motive and circumstances surrounding the murder.
