The Kolkata High Court has postponed its decision on the bail plea of Sujay Krishna Bhadra, also known as Kalighat’s Kaku, in the recruitment corruption case. The hearing took place before Justice Shubhra Ghosh, who reserved judgment after a detailed session. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) submitted a written note opposing Bhadra's bail, citing the ongoing investigation and the need for further examination of the evidence gathered. The case was previously under the purview of Justice Tirthankar Ghosh before being transferred to Justice Shubhra Ghosh's bench.
Bhadra, a central figure in the recruitment corruption probe, was arrested by the ED after being implicated in illegal hiring activities within government recruitment processes. The ED's investigation suggests that Bhadra was involved in facilitating unlawful recruitment in exchange for money. As part of their inquiry, the ED raided Bhadra's residence, recovering critical documents and evidence relevant to the case. According to the ED, these materials are integral to understanding the extent of the alleged corruption.
Furthermore, the ED obtained an audio recording of Bhadra conversing with Rahul Bera, a civic volunteer linked to the case. The conversation, which was reportedly about recruitment-related activities, was verified through forensic analysis, which confirmed that the voice in the recording matched Bhadra's. This evidence, along with the documents seized, has been central to the investigation, which continues to uncover more details about the alleged corruption network.
