Social activist civilian shot dead by suspected terrorists amid high alert in Kashmir
A resident of Salt Lake’s BE Block has filed a complaint with Bidhannagar North Police Station, alleging threats to her life and property over unpaid dues. The complaint names Sagnik Das, a former security agency operator, as the accused. During the COVID-19 lockdown, Das had provided a bodyguard for the woman’s husband. Following the closure of his business, Das allegedly began pressuring her for payment, claiming outstanding dues.
The woman alleged that Das has been making repeated phone calls to demand the money and has issued threats of violence, including setting her house and shop on fire. She stated that the threats have caused her and her ailing husband significant distress, prompting her to seek police intervention.
The Bidhannagar North Police have launched an investigation into the matter. They are looking into the nature of the alleged threats and the financial dealings between the two parties. No arrests have been made so far, but the police have assured that the case is being treated with urgency and necessary actions will be taken based on the findings.
