TMC MLA Humayun Kabir slams leadership in show-cause reply, cites unaddressed issues and frustrations

TMC MLA Humayun Kabir from Bharatpur has responded to the party’s show-cause notice, issued after his remarks about the leadership. In his reply, Kabir stated that if his words had caused any harm, he apologized. However, he emphasized that his frustration stemmed from unresolved issues he had raised repeatedly within the party. Kabir clarified that his comments were not meant to target individuals but were a result of his concerns about the lack of action on these matters.

In his letter, Kabir outlined several issues that he had reported to party leadership, including Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee. He noted that despite raising these concerns, no actions were taken. Specifically, Kabir mentioned that he had helped secure a victory for the party’s candidate in his constituency during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, yet he was not invited to a key event related to the candidate in his area, which he considered an example of the lack of support from the party.

Kabir also referenced internal tensions within the party, particularly the conflict between senior leader Kalyan Bandopadhyay and younger leaders like Trinankur Bhattacharya. He pointed out that Bandopadhyay had criticized him several times, but no action was taken by the disciplinary committee. Kabir raised concerns about the lack of accountability in addressing these internal conflicts and mentioned that these unresolved issues contributed to his frustration.

Additionally, Kabir raised allegations of financial misconduct within the party, specifically accusing party leaders Apurba Sarkar and Robiul Alam Chowdhury of taking money for Panchayat tickets. He stated that he had informed party leaders, including Maloy Ghatak, about these issues, but no steps were taken to address them. Kabir expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of action regarding these allegations, which he believed were important for the integrity of the party.

Despite his criticisms, Kabir reaffirmed his loyalty to Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee. He clarified that his grievances were about the party's functioning and not directed at the leadership. Kabir's reply to the show-cause notice underscores ongoing internal tensions within the party, especially concerning organizational issues and the party’s response to internal conflicts.
