Siliguri faces 3-day water supply disruption, residents to get one supply per day starting today

Siliguri residents, especially in the Fulbari area, will experience a significant disruption in water supply for the next three days, with water being provided only once a day. This disruption is due to essential maintenance work on two machines at the city’s water collection point, which have not been properly maintained. The maintenance aims to address mechanical issues and ensure the continued functionality of the water supply system. As a result, the usual two-time daily supply will be reduced to one, with water being available in the morning.

During the afternoon hours, when the water supply is halted, the Siliguri Municipal Corporation has arranged to provide water through tankers and pouches. These will be distributed across the city to ensure that residents can collect water during the interruption. The water tankers will cover key areas where the demand for water is highest, while pouches will be available for easy access in areas with fewer infrastructure facilities.

This water supply disruption in Siliguri follows similar issues recently reported in Kolkata, where water supply was also temporarily halted due to maintenance at production centers, such as the Taler Jolahar and Paltar Jolahar plants. These repairs were necessary to replace aging equipment and improve the efficiency of water distribution networks. Local authorities are working to complete the maintenance as quickly as possible to restore full service and prevent long-term shortages.
