WPL: RCB chase down highest ever total, beat GG by 6 wickets
The West Bengal Special Task Force (STF) arrested two individuals in Murshidabad on Sunday night, suspected of being involved in terrorism. The arrests are part of an ongoing crackdown on a terrorist network operating across West Bengal, Assam, and Kerala. Following a series of arrests in these states, STF officers focused their efforts on Murshidabad, where they detained Sajibul Islam and Mustakim Sheikh after conducting a search operation in the area.
Sajibul Islam is the cousin of Shad Radi, a terror suspect who was arrested in Kerala earlier. Shad Radi was taken into custody for suspected involvement in jihadist activities, with his name also appearing on voter lists in Murshidabad. Sajibul Islam’s arrest follows investigations that linked him to Radi and other members of the terror network. Mustakim Sheikh, a close associate of Sajibul Islam, was also arrested. Both men are currently being questioned by the STF for their alleged roles in supporting or coordinating terrorist activities.
Sajibul Islam’s wife, who has been identified as a former member of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and a Panchayat member, has raised questions about possible local political connections. However, authorities have not confirmed any direct involvement of political figures in the terrorism-related activities so far. The police are continuing to investigate the full extent of the suspects' ties to the terror network.
Evidence recovered during the operation includes communications from the suspects’ mobile phones, including WhatsApp messages. Investigators have also linked the arrests to previous cases in Murshidabad, where materials related to jihadist activities were seized. The STF is continuing its investigation, with further arrests expected as they work to dismantle the terror network across the region.
