WPL: RCB chase down highest ever total, beat GG by 6 wickets
A 14-year-old girl, Nasima Mollah, from the Sarengabad Brick Kiln High School in Canning, tragically ended her life after her family could not afford her 10th-grade admission fees. Nasima had passed the 9th grade with hopes of continuing her education. She requested her father, Ismail Mollah, a van driver, for the money required for her school enrollment. However, due to financial difficulties, Ismail Mollah was unable to meet the demand.
Despite the challenges, Ismail had assured his daughter that he would arrange the money the next day. However, before he could do so, Nasima, in a moment of despair, consumed poison. Upon realizing the severity of the situation, her family rushed her to Canning Sub-Divisional Hospital for emergency treatment. Despite medical efforts to save her, Nasima died during the treatment process.
Following her death, Canning police recovered Nasima’s body and sent it for autopsy. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident. The tragic event has deeply affected the family and the local community, drawing attention to the financial pressures that can heavily influence a student's mental well-being. The incident highlights the need for greater support systems for students from financially struggling families.
