Congress protests BJP leader's misogynistic remarks at Hazra more, burns effigy | Watch

The South Kolkata District Congress organized a protest today at Hazra More, condemning BJP leader Ramesh Biduri for his recent remarks targeting Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi. Biduri, during the Delhi election campaign, made controversial comments that Congress leaders labeled as offensive and derogatory. His remarks, which included inflammatory language, were perceived as disrespectful not only to Priyanka Gandhi but to women in general. The Congress party has expressed strong disapproval of Biduri's comments, calling them an attack on women’s dignity.

In the course of the protest, Congress workers burned an effigy of Ramesh Biduri, symbolizing their outrage over his comments. The party emphasized that such remarks by a senior political figure undermine the dignity of women in public life, particularly highlighting the inappropriate targeting of a female MP. The Congress also criticized the silence of the Election Commission and the BJP leadership, questioning why no action had been taken regarding the offensive remarks.

The protest, led by South Kolkata District Congress President Pradeep Prasad, was a demonstration of the party’s commitment to defending women's rights and dignity. Congress officials reiterated their stance that no political figure should be allowed to make such misogynistic comments without facing consequences. The protest also raised broader concerns about the treatment of women in Indian politics, particularly regarding the way female politicians are subjected to gender-based insults. The Congress party has called for accountability in the matter and stated that they will continue to raise their voice for the protection of women's honor in political discourse.
