Delhi election 2025: Phalodi Satta Bazar predicts AAP narrow win, BJP gains ground, Congress stays stagnant

The Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for February 5, are shaping up to be a significant political contest with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Congress competing for power. AAP, currently the ruling party, is seeking a third consecutive term under Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The BJP, which last ruled Delhi in 1993, is determined to reclaim control after a 27-year gap, while Congress, which previously ruled the capital for 15 years until AAP’s rise in 2013, is attempting to regain its political relevance.

AAP has enjoyed overwhelming support in the capital, winning 67 seats in the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections and 62 seats in the 2020 elections. In 2025, however, projections suggest that the party may experience a decline in seat numbers, with forecasts predicting AAP will win between 37 and 39 seats. Despite facing allegations of corruption and internal party conflicts, the party remains strong in its push for re-election, focusing on its welfare schemes such as free electricity, water, healthcare, and education, which have been key to its appeal among Delhi’s electorate.

The BJP, which won 8 seats in 2020, is expected to make significant inroads in the 2025 elections. With a strong campaign focused on criticizing AAP’s governance, particularly on issues such as corruption, law and order, and infrastructure, the BJP is aiming to increase its seat count substantially. Projections estimate the BJP will secure between 25 and 35 seats, marking a considerable improvement from its previous performance. The BJP’s strategy includes targeting constituencies where AAP has traditionally held a strong presence, particularly in urban areas and some working-class neighborhoods.

Congress, which once dominated Delhi politics for several decades, has been struggling to regain its footing since AAP’s rise. In the 2020 election, Congress failed to win any seats, and the outlook for the 2025 elections remains grim. The party has announced candidates for 48 constituencies, including well-known leaders such as Sandeep Dikshit in New Delhi and Alka Lamba in Kalkaji, but the Phalodi Satta Bazar and other sources predict Congress will secure only 3 seats in the upcoming election. This would mark another disappointing result for the party, continuing its decline in Delhi politics.

The 70-seat Delhi Legislative Assembly will see its elections unfold with several key dates. The notification for the election was issued on January 10, followed by the last date for nomination on January 17. Nominations will be scrutinized on January 18, with the last date for withdrawal of candidatures set for January 20. The polling will take place on February 5, and the counting of votes is scheduled for February 8. With AAP aiming for a third term, BJP pushing for a comeback, and Congress struggling to regain relevance, the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections are set to be closely watched by both national and local political observers.
