BSF outpost targeted: Pump motor stolen in Murshidabad border area, CCTV footage reveals culprits

On January 11, a theft took place at a Border Security Force (BSF) outpost located in the Kaharpur area of Murshidabad's Raniganj. Miscreants stole a pump motor that had been installed just two days earlier, on January 9, to ensure continued water supply to a green toilet at the outpost. The motor’s installation had been part of routine infrastructure maintenance at the border outpost, which provides basic amenities for BSF personnel.

The theft was captured on the BSF's CCTV cameras, which recorded the detailed actions of the perpetrators. The footage reveals that two individuals were involved in the operation. The first thief arrived on a motorcycle, parked it near the outpost, and walked away. A second individual then arrived on a bicycle, entered the outpost, and disconnected the motor. After the motor was disconnected, the first thief returned, retrieved the motorcycle, and assisted the second thief in fleeing the scene with the stolen motor.

BSF officials confirmed that the motor was connected to a green toilet, which was installed to maintain a continuous water supply in the area. The theft occurred just two days after the motor had been set up, causing a disruption to the water system. The BSF identified the time of the incident as occurring late on the afternoon of January 11.

Following the theft, the BSF began an investigation based on the CCTV footage, which is being used to trace the suspects. The BSF has also shown the footage to local residents to help identify the individuals. No arrests have been made as of yet, but the BSF is cooperating with local law enforcement to further investigate the matter. The BSF filed a formal complaint with the local police on January 13, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are increasing surveillance and taking additional measures to ensure the security of the area.
