WPL: RCB chase down highest ever total, beat GG by 6 wickets
A coal-laden freight train derailed near the Tarapith Road railway station in Birbhum, West Bengal, on Saturday morning, halting train services on the Bardhaman-Rampurhat up line. The incident took place around 9:45 AM near the Dangal railway gate while the train was traveling from Sainthia towards Rampurhat. A broken wheel caused one of the train's wagons to derail, leading to the obstruction of the tracks.
The derailment disrupted several important trains, including the Howrah-Bhagalpur Vande Bharat Express, Sealdah-Silchar Kanchanjunga Express, and Howrah-Azimganj Gandebata Express, which were delayed at different stations. The affected line remained blocked, with no train movements reported along the route.
Immediately following the incident, railway authorities launched restoration efforts to clear the tracks and resume normal services. The repair work is expected to take several hours, and a thorough investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the derailment. No injuries or fatalities have been reported so far, and train services are being closely monitored as the situation progresses.
