Drunk youths crash car in New Town, attack female cop at police station
Nasreen Khatun, a 26-year-old mother, is currently in a critical condition at SSKM Hospital in Kolkata after being admitted due to a severe saline complication. Despite 11 days of intensive treatment, her infection remains uncontrolled, and she continues to be on a ventilator. According to hospital sources, the infection level in Nasreen’s body has not yet been brought under control, and she is being closely monitored by the medical team.
Nasreen was one of three critically ill mothers transferred from Medinipur to SSKM on January 12. All three mothers were suffering from severe complications after childbirth, with Nasreen’s condition being the most critical. Mampi Singh, another mother transferred with Nasreen, was also placed on a ventilator upon arrival but has since been removed from it. Mampi is now under observation and is reportedly responding to doctors through writing. Though her condition has improved, doctors have emphasized that she is not out of danger yet.
Minara Bibi, the third mother, is in relatively stable condition. She is being treated in the isolation ward of the Intensive Critical Care Unit (ICCU). Hospital sources reported that Minara is eating food orally, has normal urine output, and does not require dialysis. If her condition continues to remain stable, she may be moved to a regular ward in the near future.
All three mothers were transferred from Medinipur following complications from childbirth, with Nasreen being the most critical case. The transfer was part of an effort to provide advanced medical care at SSKM. Medical professionals are continuing to assess the progress of each patient, as the condition of the mothers remains unstable. The state health authorities have faced growing concerns regarding maternal health following these incidents, including the deaths at Medinipur Medical College, which have drawn significant attention.
