Woman stabbed to death over alleged affair near Bypass Dhaba

On the evening of January 30, Rofia Shakil, a woman from Kolkata, was fatally stabbed near the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass in front of the Bypass Dhaba restaurant. Police reports confirm that the attack was carried out by three individuals, including a minor, in response to an alleged extramarital affair between Rofia and Md Faroque Ansari. The other assailants were Shahzadi Faroque, Md Faroque Ansari’s wife, and Wasim Akram, a 22-year-old male.

According to the police, Rofia and Md Faroque Ansari were having tea at the Bypass Dhaba when Shahzadi Faroque, accompanied by her son and Wasim Akram, arrived at the scene. After a confrontation, the minor, identified as Shahzadi's son, allegedly attacked Rofia with a knife. The attack caused severe bleeding injuries to Rofia, and she collapsed on the road.

Following the assault, bystanders rushed Rofia to NRS Hospital, where she was immediately treated. However, hospital sources confirmed that despite surgery, she succumbed to her injuries around 2 AM on January 31. Police investigations established that the motive behind the attack was Rofia's alleged extramarital relationship with Md Faroque Ansari. The minor assailant reportedly carried out the stabbing, and his mother, Shahzadi, along with Wasim Akram, played roles in the incident.

The Pragati Maidan Police Station swiftly registered the case, and the three suspects— the minor, Shahzadi Faroque (34), and Wasim Akram (22)— were detained at the scene. Local police apprehended them immediately after the attack. Further investigation revealed that the minor and his family had planned the attack after discovering Rofia’s relationship with Md Faroque Ansari.

The police recovered the knife used in the attack under the minor's direction and seized it as evidence. The case has been recorded under sections related to murder and attempted murder. The authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the exact sequence of events, as well as to verify the roles of the suspects involved. The police are also investigating any further connections or underlying reasons that may have contributed to the violent incident.
