TMC worker shot dead in broad daylight in Naihati

Santosh Yadav, a local businessman and alleged Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker, was shot and killed in broad daylight on Friday in the Gauripur area of Naihati. According to reports, Yadav was attacked by a group of assailants while he was on the road. Eyewitnesses stated that the attackers first fired a shot at Yadav, and in response, he fought back and managed to grab a revolver from one of them. Despite his resistance, the remaining attackers fired four additional shots, one of which struck Yadav in the head. He was immediately taken to Naihati State General Hospital, where he was declared dead by the attending doctors.

Yadav, a well-known businessman in the locality, was also reportedly involved with the TMC, though his exact role within the party has not been officially confirmed. His mother, grieving the loss of her son, accused a man named Rajesh of being responsible for the attack, claiming that Rajesh had a personal rivalry with her son. Based on her statement, the police have initiated a search for Rajesh and are investigating his potential involvement in the crime. However, the specific nature of the alleged dispute between Rajesh and Yadav has not been disclosed by authorities.
