Drunk youths crash car in New Town, attack female cop at police station
The Howrah Municipal Corporation has announced a planned suspension of drinking water supply across its entire municipal area, starting from Thursday at 12 p.m. until Friday at 6 a.m. This 18-hour interruption is a result of urgent repairs required for the water supply pipeline. The work includes repairing leaks, replacing various sections of the pipeline with new pipes of different diameters, and the installation of three 900-millimeter diameter valves to improve water distribution across the city.
The repairs are crucial for enhancing the efficiency and stability of Howrah's water supply system, as older pipelines have been prone to frequent issues, causing disruptions in service. The Corporation has emphasized that the project is part of ongoing efforts to modernize and maintain the infrastructure for a more reliable water distribution network in the future. The ongoing work will focus on replacing sections that are outdated and vulnerable to damage, as well as addressing specific issues such as leaks that have been reported in certain areas.
In response to the water outage, the Howrah Municipal Corporation has arranged for water tankers to be dispatched to various locations in the city. These tankers will provide residents with an alternative source of drinking water during the disruption. The Corporation has reassured the public that the water supply will resume on time at 6 a.m. on Friday and that all necessary measures are being taken to minimize inconvenience. Residents are advised to plan accordingly for the scheduled water cut and prepare for the temporary disruption.
