CM Mamata slams CBI-ED, questions conviction rate after 'jailing so many'

Amid the uproar over Abhishek Banerjee’s name appearing in the charge sheet related to the recruitment corruption case, Mamata Banerjee once again questioned the efficiency of central agencies during a party workers' conference at Netaji Indoor Stadium. On Thursday, she said that central agencies become active as elections approach.

The Trinamool leader even claimed that the BJP has taken control of the media. On this day, Mamata said, "As elections draw closer, the activities of the agencies will increase." She further alleged that the media has been completely controlled.

"There is nothing wrong with the journalists here. The media cannot say anything. There is a difference between journalists and media owners. Owners run various businesses. Sometimes they are intimidated with income tax, sometimes with the CBI or ED."

She continued, "Whenever elections approach, they suddenly remember who in the Trinamool Congress should be charge-sheeted. They remember who in Trinamool should be labeled a thief. Who from Trinamool should be sent to jail? You have put many people in jail, but how many have you actually managed to convict? Aren't you ashamed?" She further pointed out, "The RG Kar case has still not been resolved. One case after another keeps piling up." "What language do you speak?"
