Social activist civilian shot dead by suspected terrorists amid high alert in Kashmir
Former Bihar minister and RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav was fined ₹4,000 for riding a scooty without a helmet near Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s residence in Patna on Holi. The vehicle was also found to have expired insurance and a pollution certificate, leading to additional penalties. The traffic police issued a challan after a video of the incident surfaced online, showing Tej Pratap riding through the city in festive attire.
In the viral video, Tej Pratap Yadav can be seen riding the two-wheeler without protective gear, maneuvering through the streets while celebrating Holi. As he reached Nitish Kumar’s residence, he was heard loudly calling out, “Paltu Chacha Kahan?”—a term used to mock the Bihar CM for his frequent political shifts. The clip showed supporters following him on other two-wheelers, chanting slogans as the ride continued.
The term ‘Paltu Chacha’ (flip-flop uncle) has been commonly used by the RJD and opposition parties to taunt Nitish Kumar, especially after his recent switch from the Mahagathbandhan (RJD-Congress) back to the BJP-led NDA government. Tej Pratap’s stunt quickly gained traction on social media, drawing both criticism and amusement from the public.
The controversy escalated further when another video emerged showing Tej Pratap ordering a police constable to dance at his Holi celebration. In the footage, the RJD leader instructs the officer to perform to a song, warning that failure to comply could lead to suspension. Under pressure, the constable is seen dancing amid a crowd of party workers.
The incident sparked outrage, leading to disciplinary action against the officer, who was subsequently removed from duty as Tej Pratap’s bodyguard. The video triggered a political debate, with opposition parties condemning the incident and calling it an example of political arrogance and misuse of power.
While Tej Pratap Yadav has often been known for his dramatic political stunts, the helmet violation, public taunts, and police dance episode have further fueled discussions about his controversial public conduct. Meanwhile, Bihar’s traffic police have reaffirmed that rules apply to everyone, regardless of political stature.
