Digvijaya Singh, facing the heat over raising questions on surgical strikes by Indian Army, failed to find any favor within the party as his once ‘protége’ Rahul Gandhi clearly stated that his views are ‘outlying opinion’.

"We trust our armed forces and they do their work exceptionally well... our stand on surgical strikes is very clear and it was there in (the) Congress Working Committee..." Rahul Gandhi, who this week led the Bharat Jodo Yatra into Jammu and Kashmir, said.

Congress leader Digvijaya Singh accused the BJP-led government at the Centre of “spreading lies”, saying that to date, there has been no proof placed on the 2016 surgical strike or the 2019 Pulwama terror attack. "They claimed a surgical strike was carried out but didn't show proof. They only spread lies," he added.

The Bharatiya Janata Party lashed out at the Congress for making “irresponsible statements”. “It's the character of the Congress party to make irresponsible statements. The country will not tolerate anyone speaking against our security forces," BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said on Monday.
