Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday alleged Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented the Union Budget in view of the upcoming assembly elections in three to four states of the country.
Escalating his attack, the Congress president said there was nothing for the poor in the budget and no steps had been taken to control inflation. “The budget was presented by the Modi government in view of the upcoming assemblies in three to four states. There is nothing in the budget for poor people and to control inflation. No steps to get jobs, to fill government vacancies and MNREGA,” a report mentioned.
Congress general secretary in charge of communications Jairam Ramesh also addressed the judgment on the Union Budget. “Actual spending is significantly LOWER than planned. This is Modi's OPUD Chief Management Strategy - Over Promise, Under Deliver,” he said in a tweet.
Congress outburst against the government after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget in Parliament. Stating that India's economy is on the right track and heading for a bright future despite challenging times, Sitharaman said economic growth is estimated at 7 percent this year.
The Finance Minister said that this is the first budget in Amrit Kaal.Sitharaman added that the vision for Amrit Kaal includes a technology-driven and knowledge-based economy with strong public finances and a robust financial sector.
