Indian envoy discusses ties with newly sworn-in US counterpart Eric Garcetti
Shubman Gill on Wednesday broke Virat Kohli's record for the highest individual score by an Indian batsman in T20Is. The right-handed batsman did well in India's third and final T20I against New Zealand's Mitchell Santner at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Earlier, Kohli created a record by scoring an unbeaten 122 against Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi in a September 2022 Asia Cup match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Kohli stayed at the top for about five months before Gill was ousted. In the match against the Black Caps, Gill was at his best as he scored an unbeaten 126 off 63 balls with 12 fours and seven sixes. On the back of his knock, India posted a massive score of 234 for the loss of four wickets after opting to bat first. Gill reached his half-century from 35 balls after which he stepped on the gas. The young Turk reached his hundred off 54 balls to become the sixth Indian to score a T20I hundred.
Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, KL Rahul, Deepak Hooda and Suryakumar Yadav are the other men to score hundreds in T20Is for the Men in Blue. Among the women, Harmanpreet Kaur is the other batsman to have a century as she got it in the 2018 T20 World Cup in West Indies.
As for Gill, he's been having a dream lately. After collecting his maiden ODI double hundred, the right-handed Gill showed the power he is in the shortest format of the game. Having also played a number of matches for Gujarat Giants in the IPL, Gill knew the conditions in Ahmedabad well.
