Partha Chatterjee, the former education minister of West Bengal, has been accused by Arpita Mukherjee and Kuntal Ghosh of being the actual mastermind behind the teacher appointment corruption case in the state. Both Mukherjee and Ghosh have claimed that Chatterjee was the brains behind the entire conspiracy.
Arpita Mukherjee, who was arrested alongside Chatterjee, has already admitted to the ED that the gold ornaments worth Rs 50 crore and more than five kg, recovered from her house, belonged to Partha Chatterjee. Meanwhile, Kuntal Ghosh, a recently arrested youth leader of the Trinamool Congress, has revealed that at least Rs 15.5 crore was given to Chatterjee's personal assistant. Ghosh also claimed that Rs 15.5 crore of the Rs 50 crore cash that was found in the joint flat of Chatterjee and Mukherjee was the same money that he had given.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) sources said that Partha Chatterjee will be questioned in relation to the case again. At the time of his arrest, Chatterjee was the state general secretary of the Trinamool Congress and was in charge of the party's funds and financial transactions. It has also been alleged that the top leadership of the Trinamool Congress was aware of the widespread corruption in teacher appointments.
It is reported that the conspiracies of appointment corruption were carried out with the consent and connivance of everyone involved, resulting in the appointment of unqualified candidates in teaching positions. This revelation has shed light on the issue of corruption within the political establishment in West Bengal, a matter that has long been a cause of concern for the citizens of the state.
