Allu Arjun gets interim bail by high court in Pushpa 2 stampede case
Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Shelly Oberoi on Wednesday won the mayoral election, days after the Supreme Court ordered that nominated members will play no role in the voting process. Oberoi received 150 votes as against BJP candidate Rekha Gupta's 116.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia congratulated Shelly Oberoi for winning the mayoral election, saying "gangs lost, public won".
"Many congratulations to all the Aam Aadmi Party Mayoral workers in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and once again our heartfelt thanks to the people of Delhi," he tweeted in Hindi. "Many congratulations to the first Mayor @OberoiShelly from AAP."
The office of the presiding officer has come to an end with the election of new mayor and Oberoi will now preside over the rest of the polls, including that of deputy mayor and six members of the powerful standing committee, in accordance with the top court’s Friday ruling.
